Objective - Using a thoracic aorta to external iliac/femoral artery bypass as a treatment for mid-aortic coarctation. The concern was the difficulty in performing a right renal bypass from a left thoracoabdominal approach
Method - The procedure is performed in two stages. First stage is the thoracic aorta to external iliac artery bypass. The second stage is an aorta bilateral renal bypass
Result - The patient tolerated the procedure well without any complications. The descending aorta was an excellent inflow vessel.
Conclusion - The thoracic aorta to external iliac artery bypass followed by an aorta renal bypass is an excellent surgical alternative to repairing a mid-aortic coarctation with renal artery stenosis.
