The advantages of modern minimally invasive surgery by laparoscopy have been well documented for patients. The technical difficulties of vascular surgery have resulted in the slow adoption of laparoscopic techniques. We present the first reported cases of the application of surgical robots to perform the complex task of aortic anastamosis. The preliminary animal model for development and feasibility is presented along with the clinical application.
