Compared to the open approach, laparoscopic radical nephrectomy exhibits multiple benefits with equal oncologic results. The hand-assist technique saves operative time while maintaining the benefits of a purely laparoscopic approach. We demonstrate a hand-assisted radical nephrectomy in a 47 year old patient with renal carcinoma & renal vein tumor thrombus.
