This video delineates laparoscopy for assessment of trauma using a four-step approach: (1) assessment of the upper abdomen, (2) the pelvis, (3) the small bowel, colon, mesentery, and (4) the lesser sac using gravity as a retractor. This formal approach to laparoscopy is designed to eliminate unnecessary laparotomies and false-negative laparoscopies.
