This video illustrates preoperative staging, the anatomic considerations involved in, and the surgical technique of, radical retropubic prostatectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy in patients with Stages A and B carcinoma of the prostate. Points emphasized are (a) complete en bloc resection of sacral and obturator, as well as external iliac, hypogastric and common iliac lymph nodes, (b) wide resection of prostate, seminal vesicles and vas, and (c) the technique of bladder neck reconstruction and vesical-urethral anastomosis.
