Frantz-Gruber tumor, also known as solid and cystic pseudopapillary tumor ofthe pancreas, is an uncommon disease that occurs predominantly in young females. Surgical resection remains the treatment of choice for this disease as it offers excellent prognosis.

A 28 year old female with no past medical history presented with dull epigastric pain of several months duration. CT of the abdomen revealed a well-circumscribed, 5cm diameter cystic mass in the opic ultrasound-guided biopsy of the lesion showed pseudopapillary cells, consistent with the diagnosis of solid and cys of the pancreas. Given that the lesion was localized to the tail of the pancreas, thepatient was considered for a distal pancreatectomy and splenectomy via laparoscopic approach.

The patient underwent successful, margin-free resection of her tumor via a laparoscopic approach. Final pathology was consistent with a Frantz- Gruber tumor of the pancreas. At 1 year follow-up, the patient is feeling well, pleased with the cosmetic result of her operation, and has no evidence of recurrent disease. Frantz-Gruber tumors of the distal pancreas are amenable to Laparoscopic resection with excellent outcome.
