We perform a laparoscopic hand-assisted distal pancreatectomy in a young woman with chronic pancreatitis and a pancreatic duct stricture. The addition of a gel hand port provides the ability to palpate important vascular structures as well as allowing transection of this firm, thickened pancreas through the 5cm hand-port incision.
