This video illustrates recent modifications in hypertelorism correction developed over the last 21 years. The procedures are illustrated in this video by intraoperative sequences which are highlighted by charts, illustrations, and photographs. The senior author's recent modifications are based on an early method first performed in 1972. Facial bipartition as well as other techniques which preserve the tooth buds in younger patients is presented. Other modifications which give improved results in selected cases includes the lamellar split technique, certain new aesthetic nasal techniques for reconstruction, medial canthal repositioning, reliable identification, unroofing of the lacrimal sac, and the use of fibrin tissue adhesives.
