Hemangiopericytomas are rare vascular tumors believed to arise from pericytes. Easily mistaken for a glomus tumor, the clinical and biological behavior, as well as the histogenesis of this lesion, presents a significant diagnostic challenge. Previously, hemangiopericytomas have been observed to occur at various sites within the head and neck. This tape records the surgical extirpation of the first documented case of a hemangiopericytoma of the mesotympanum to be reported in the American literature.
