This video illustrates the technical and anatomical features involved in the repair of a Shouldice hernia. Techniques of local anesthesia, anatomical guides towards positioning the incision and the various components of the inguinal canal are demonstrated. Considerations involved in a decision for use in the Shouldice repair are discussed. Some of the difficulties involved with scar tissue from adjacent major surgical areas and its management and delineation of appropriate layers are also demonstrated.
