Our technique of mesh "patch" and "plug" repair of inguinal hernias closely follows the data of Dr. Lichtenstein of Los Angeles. We believe, as does he, that the tension produced by opposing tissue normally not in contact produces tension which therein leads to recurrence. This video illustrates this technique. Our recurrence rate has been zero in approximately 300 cases for primary repair with no infection. We believe this to be the ideal hernia repair.
