Our laparoscopic extraperitoneal prosthetic inguinal hernia repair offers the same benefits attributed to traditional preperitoneal repair, described by Stoppa, et. al., as well as the added benefits of reduced pain, quicker recovery and improved cosmesis. Our experience, which includes over 150 hernias, suggests that this laparoscopic extraperitoneal repair will become the procedure of choice for those with recurrent, as well as bilateral, defects.
