Hydatid cyst is a parasitic infection caused by by Echinococcus, which can affect many parts of the human body including the liver. They are usually asymptomatic, however they can cause symptoms when they grow to large sizes or when they develop complications such as infection, rupture or biliary communications. De-roofing of the hydatid cyst with removal of the Germinal layer along with all the daughter cysts is a recommended treatment for this condition when it affects the liver. Traditionally this was done by the open method. However, with increasing expertise in the field of minimal access surgery, this can be safely accomplished laparoscopically. We present a video showing a step by step approach of the laparoscopic technique in the management of this condition
