Adenocarcinoma of the lower esophagus and cardia is one of the most difficult malignancies to cure or palliate. The goals of treatment are to restore swallowing where possible and to assume a normal lifestyle, with minimal operative morbidity and mortality. The case demonstrated is that of a 55 year old male with a long history of gastroesophageal reflux and a six-week history of progressive dysphagia.
