Laparoscopic surgery is presently being utilized more frequently in children. This video program describes some of the differences between adolescents and adults so that general surgeons who encounter these older children will be attuned to these differences. An eleven year old boy underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy for symptomatic cholelithiasis and a twelve year old girl had a laparoscopic appendectomy for acute appendicitis. Important points about the operations will be described.
