For carcinoma of the upper and middle stomach, total gastrectomy with D2 lymphadenectomy is advocated as standard of care. The robotic platform has been proven to be safe and feasible in performing complex upper gastrointestinal cancer operations. Particularly, the ability to articulate instruments has allowed for thorough lymphadenectomy and precise sewn anastomoses. This video demonstrates the steps of the robotic total gastrectomy with traditional D2 lymphadenectomy, and Roux-en-Y reconstruction.
