Laparoscopic Excision of Intraluminal Duodenal Lesion

A 76 year old presented with weight loss and vomiting for three months. Examination by endoscopy showed a polypoid lesion in the first part of the duodenum with wide stalk. Decision was taken for laparoscopic excision of the lesion. Intra-operatively transverse enterotomy was made and delivery of the polypoid lesion from the first part of the duodenum. Laparoscopic stapler was fired at the base of the polyp taking part of the posterior wall of the duodenum to ensure clear margin. Opening of the enterotomy was in transverse fashion and closure was done longitudinally with PDS suture in a continuous fashion. Histopathology came as brunner's cell hamartoma.
