Hand-assisted laparoscopic colonic resection is thought to facilitate colonic mobilization, while maintaining the benefits of laparoscopic surgery. The video presented details many of the technical aspects of hand-assisted laparoscopic sigmoid resection for diverticulitis. We believe this video will be educational and introduce many to a useful technique in minimally invasive surgery.
