Perforation of the esophagus is a life-threatening condition requiring early recognition and intervention, to prevent mediastinitis & death. To date there have been no reported cases of thoracoscopic repair of the esophagus for esophageal perforation following instrumentation. Two other cases of throacoscopic repair for spontaneous rupture have been reported. We report on the first successful case of thoracoscopic repair of the esophagus follwing iatrogenic perforation.
