The unique qualities of ultrasound coupled with high resolution real time imaging have markedly facilitated its use in many medical specialties. Considering the enthusiastic acceptance of surgeon performed ultrasound for the evaluation of injured patients, it is only logical for surgeons to build upon this experience and extend its use to other aspects of surgery.
