A 58 year old female presented with a 10 year history of symptomatic bilateral neck masses. Computed tomography and arteriography confirmed bilateral carotid body tumors (5x3 cm and 5x2 cm). Neurologic exam revealed no cranial nerve deficits. Subadventital tumor excision was accomplished in staged bilateral procedures. Current diagnostic modalities and surgical management will be discussed.
