The patient is a 47 year old female with a five year history of recurrent diverticulitis. A large sealed-off perforation was identified. Laparoscopic-assisted sigmoidectomy was performed through a six centimeter Pfannenstiel incision. Anastomosis was accomplished with a circular EEA stapler. The patient was discharged on post-op day four.
