Laparoscopic splenectomy has shown multiple benefits over its open counterpart. The procedure has been proved successful for the normal size or the moderately enlarged spleen. This presentation demonstrates that the laparoscopic approach could be used for the large spleen. The procedure was performed either hand assisted or completely laparoscopically in five patients with a spleen size ranging between 23 to 32 cm.
