The expertise gained in laparoscopic surgery over the past seven years has allowed for differentiation of procedures in which the laparoscopic approach has a significant advantage over its open counterpart. Laparoscopic esophagomyotomy has emerged as one of these procedures. In this presentation, the technique of laparoscopic esophagomyotomy with a partial antireflux procedure is described in a didactic manner. The safe use of ultrasonic dissection is also demonstrated.
