Thoracoscopy is a valuable tool for staging intrathoracic tumors. Preoperative staging of esophageal cancer may allow better allocation of adjuvant therapy. Thoracoscopic staging was done through the right chest unless specific studies dictated anteroposterior window sampling. Laparoscopic lymph node staging of the celiac axis is performed routinely. Thoracoscopic and laparoscopic staging can correctly predict thoracic and celiac lymph node status with high accuracy.
