Recent enthusiasm for video-assisted surgery has tempted many to modify surgical technique to facilitate the laparoscopic approach, often compromising traditional surgical principles. The authors present a video Nissen fundoplication performed laparoscopically, utilizing a technique identical to its open counterpart and emphasizing the principles critical to successful antireflux surgery. A short, floppy, fundoplication is illustrated including crural approximation and complete mobilization of the gastric fundus.
