Up to now 1,000 laparoscopic appendectomies in all decades of vermix disease had been performed at our department of laparoscopic surgery. In 1.2% of the patients, we had to change to the conventional operation-technique, especially in the phase of learning laparoscopic procedures. The rate of intraoperative complications ranges to 2% and of postoperative complications to 0.3%.
