Two infants with gastroschisis and mesenteric occlusion lost their entire midguts except for 30 cm. of proximal jejunum. At one year of age and after each received maximum benefit from nonoperative treatment, both underwent intestinal lengthening, as described by Bianchi, with remarkable improvement. Both infants were completely maintained on enteric nutrition and parenteral support was discontinued by six months postoperatively. A videotape of the operative procedure and clinical course of the patients will be presented.
