The incidence and recognition of gastroesophageal reflux in infants and children has apparently increased in recent years. The most common operation done for gastroesophageal reflux in this age group is the Nissen fundoplication. The results with this operation are generally good; however, a number of complications of the Nissen fundolpication is esophageal obstruction just above the wrap.
