A 38 year old female patient was discovered to be hypercalcemic on a routine biochemical screening. Although the patient was asymptomatic, her bone alkaline phosphatase was increased, suggesting increased osteoclastic activity. Biochemical evaluation confirmed the diagnosis of primary hyperparathyroidism of the sporadic variety, and elective cervical exploration was advised.
