Severe wound complications with open surgery in the obese make minimally invasive techniques preferable. Minimally invasive BPD/DS has been limited by its complexity. Robotic techniques enhance intracorporeal suturing. This video demonstrates robotic assisted BPD/DS with use of five ports, retrocolic placement of the alimentary limb and closure of all mesenteric defects.
