Our group has performed laparoscopic adrenalectomy in 11 patients with pheochromocytomas and multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) Type II. This videotape demonstrates our operative approach including patient positioning, placement of ports, mobilization and exposure of right- and left-sided tumors, control of adrenal veins, intraoperative laparoscopic ultrasound, and retrieval of resected glands from the abdomen. Laparoscopic adrenalectomy is safe and effective and should become the preferred management for presymptomatic and early symptomatic pheochromocytomas in patients with MEN II.
