Year Produced: 1995
Length: 11 min.

An Altemeier stapled perineal proctosigmoidectomy is an excellent alternative for selected patients with rectal prolapse. It may be performed under regional anesthesia, does not require a laparotomy, and is well tolerated by poor risk patients. To further improve continence, a levator ani repair may be added selectively.
