This video reviews the advantages of and indications for transanal excision of rectal cancer. The procedure has never previously been presented in video format because of the exceptional difficulty of exposure due to anatomic considerations. Two cases are presented with supporting illustrations to demonstrate the technical considerations of this approach. Recommendations for postoperative care and follow-up are also reviewed.
