The optimal method for performing a thymectomy remains controversial. Some surgeons advocate a transcervical approach while others endorse either a partial or full-median sternotomy. This video demonstrates the partial sternotomy technique that is performed through a cosmetic upper-sternal split and is the thymectomy approach recommended for cases where resection of a thymus gland does not contain a large tumor.
