Angioscopy provides a method to examine the luminal surface of the vascular system. Direct visualization of the intravascular space has allowed for more precise valvulotomies, shorter incisions for in situ bypass grafting, evaluation of potential vein grafts for unsuspected lesions, and assuring the adequacy of thromboembolectomy. The techniques demonstrated herein provide a basis for improved clinical results.
