Lung biopsy is indicated for many disease processes where tissue diagnosis will mandate treatment. Thoracoscopic lung biopsy is a relatively new technique in which to obtain this tissue. We advocate thoracoscopic lung biopsy as a superior technique for lung parenchymal tissue sampling relative to the standard open technique. It is a simple and safe technique with decreased mortality and requires a shorter period of hospitalization.
