A large, slow-growing tumor of the left lung could not be resected upon initial exploration, due to mechanical distortion of the heartwith hypotension. The patient was re-explored 10 days later, and placed on cardiopulmonary bypass, to allow successful resection of this giant leiomyosarcoma. The technique of the left pneumonectomy on bypass is shown, along with representative radiologic and pathologic material.
