This videotape illustrates the technique of retrograde continuous warm blood cardioplegia (RCWBC) for coronary bypass surgery. RCWBC is a new concept in myocardial protection. The technique relies on the continuous delivery of oxygenated blood cardioplegia and is particularly useful in complicated procedures such as valves, combined procedures, and congenital heart surgery. This videotape is of particular interest to cardiac surgeons in view of the fact that RCWBC is a new and promising alternative method of myocardial protection.
