This videotape demonstrates revascularization of an occluded left subclavian artery in a four year old male. This patient had undergone resection of a huge ganglio-neuroblastoma two years prior to this operation, and had received radiation therapy to the tumor bed. At the time of tumor resection, the subclavian artery in the left chest had to be sacrificed in order to completely remove the tumor. About one and a half years after the operation, the child developed symptoms of mild claudication and intermittent episodes of coldness in the left hand. This videotape shows dissection of the proximal stump of the left subclavian artery and the distal portion of the artery, and demonstrates an end-to-end anastomosis between the vein graft and the proximal left carotid artery and an end-to-end anastomosis between the vein graft and the distal subclavian artery.
