The technical details of percutaneous dilatational subcricoid trachesostomy are shown. A short oral introduction by the senior author is followed by a demonstration of the technique on a mockup, using a transparent plastic tube as a trachea to emphasize the important points of the technique. This is followed by an actual procedure done on a patient under local anesthesia in the Intensive Care Unit. The demonstrated tracheostomy uses an 8 mm. I.D. single cannula tracheostomy tube.
