This video demonstrates the basic surgical technique, popularized by Ravitch, for surgical correction of pectus carinatum. Emphasis is placed on wide subperichondrial resection of the deformed costal cartilages, and resection of involved portions of the ribs. Reefing sutures, placed to take up slack in the perichondrium, provide some measure of stability in the anterior chest wall. Recontouring of the chest wall results without the use of internal or external devices for fixation.
