Pulmonary embolism in the setting of bariatric surgery can be devastating. The utility of retrievable vena cava filters in the high risk patient has not been well described. This video illustrates the placement and the removal of a retrievable vena cava filter in a patient undergoing gastric bypass with a history of prior deep venous thrombosis with pulmonary embolism.
