A new technique which has simplified left hepatectomy extended to segment V and the posterior part of VIII is described. The left hepatic pedicle and the individual Glissonian sheaths are approached by posterior intrahepatic dissection from the porta hepatis. The segments to be removed were clearly delineated by clamping individual sheaths.
