We have performed 54 H-graft portacaval shunts. This selective shunt, using 8 mm reinforced synthetic material has a low (6%) rate of encephalopathy and very acceptable morbidity. The vast majority have been from Child's class B or C patients. This video illustrates the technical nuances of this valuable technique.
