A 61 year old male with locally advanced esophageal cancer underwent induction chemoradiation therapy followed by minimally invasive esophagectomy. He was found to have an anastomotic leak that could not be managed with conservative measures. An endoscopically placed vacuum sponge was placed to manage the leak and the patient made a full recovery.
