Fifteen patients (6 males, 9 females, mean age 57.2 years) underwent ultrasound guided cryoablation for primary and secondary hepatic tumors. Conversion to open surgery occurred in one case. No other complications occurred and the patients were dismissed after 9.8 days on average. The results compared favorably with those of 32 other patients who in the same time period underwent open cryoablation for the same indications. Laparoscopic hepatic cryoablation in selected patients is feasible and safe and should be considered the treatment of choice.
