Why most education plans are hard to defend
Most education plans are built the same way: last year’s activities, plus or minus a few, with a budget line that reflects what was spent rather than what was produced.
That process is fast and it is defensible. It is also why education budgets are so hard to protect when the finance conversation gets difficult. A plan organized around activity counts can only argue for more activities. A plan organized around identified care gaps and measurable outcomes can argue for what the education is meant to change — competence, performance, patient care — and show whether it did.
