Benign bile duct strictures have been seen with an increased frequency since the introduction of laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The key to successful management includes proper delineation of biliary anatomy using preoperative percutaneous transhepatic cho angiography and the placement of percutaneous biliary catheters to facilitate the reconstruction. Biliary reconstruction should be completed using a Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy. The use of silastic stents appears to optimize both postoperative management and long-term results.
