A 74-year-old with prior open inguinal hernia repair with mesh (type of mesh unknown) developed recurrent left groin abscesses several years later. He had complicated diverticulitis that caused a colocutaneous fistula with abscesses that continued to recur despite percutaneous and open drainage. He was found to have mesh erosion into the sigmoid colon. He underwent successful laparoscopic low anterior resection with mesh excision.
